worked at Radio City Music Hall as a Rockette from 1943-1949. In July, 1945 she
left the line to spend six months in Europe entertaining troops with the Music
Hall Overseas Show along with 15 other Rockettes, 12 corp de ballet and singers, comedians, etc.
They were accompanied by Gene Snyder, an associate of Russel Markert's in the early
'40's. Gladys and Edith Kalen, who were also part of the overseas troupe, joined the
Rockettes at the Music Hall upon their return to the US in January, 1946. Pokie
served as the president of the Rockette Alumnae from 1971-1973. She performed with
the "R.A. Breathless Twelve" on the Jack Paar and Mike Douglas television shows.
Pokie married Jack Bookless in 1948. She has one son
and triplet granddaughters and she lives in Cape Cod, MA.
